Autumn has now well and truly fallen upon us! And as it does

every October, the trees are starting to loose their rusty leaves & 

the mornings have become both crisper & colder. And as the evenings continue to draw in, we turn over the pages of our cookbooks to more comforting recipes, get settled on our sofas for the new array of tv series  set to draw us in & soothe and indulge ourselves in steamy drawn baths.

So as we say a final farewell to summer, it's time to pull up the blankets, jump straight into October & wrap yourself up in all the wonderful colours and textures this month has to offer. We’ll let you into a little secret… We love September. While many see this month as the end of summer, every year we meet September with open arms! Yes the days may be getting shorter, and the weather cooler, but the crisp mornings and moody dusks are just a reminder that there is change in the air and a new season to enjoy!

For us September is the time we re-unite with our kitchen, which tends to go neglected over the summer months. It is also the perfect time for blackberry picking and taking long walks along bramble-lined paths, searching for hidden inner city patches of green. Followed by afternoons spent baking crumble and a week of mornings met with bowls of homemade berry muesli.

September is also when cities come alive, and whether it be weekends away to new ones, or rediscovering the one you live in.  Weekend markets are at their best with local autumnal produce, and even if the weather takes a wrong turn there is nothing we love more than retreating to warm coffee shops and old London pubs.

It is always lovely to spot our products featured on blogs and on social media, so we were super chuffed to see that Eimear Varian Barry had included our Serve & Chop Walnut Boards on her blog - THE EVB EDIT. The last week of July met Londoners with a disappointing spread 

of noticeably colder days and it felt very much as though summer could have come to an abrupt end before it had ever really got going (classically British)! I found myself planning a stocking up trip to buy tights, and starting to ponder on weather we might get snow this winter. This is all of course totally crazy! It is still definitely summer, and not only because we will see temperatures rise agin for the first week of August, but also for the following reasons why ... We are still enjoying the lighter evenings, there are still summer festivals yet to come, most have got holidays booked away to hot, far flung places, we are still either attending or cooking food on barbecues & Instagram is full of dreamy pics of cocktails/pool pics/ice-creams/blue sky... & the list could go on. So lets all jump back into the summer vibe, and see what this week might bring, and not pack away our sunglasses and bikinis just yet!

As we say goodbye to the last long days of June and into the new month of July, there is no doubt a feeling of summer is in the air. Although we may have just said goodbye to the longest day of the year, the days this week actually seem as though they are getting longer! You no longer need to wear that jumper, tights or jeans, and can be free to leave the house in just a t-shirt! July is laying on the grass barefoot with a soft breeze flowing over your bare legs. July is ice cold lollies and bright lime palm trees. July is a time for adventure, travel, and holidays, where you can let go and feel free to relax. July is about feeling lighter and brighter; and with the sun not setting until well gone 9 each evening, it gives us the desire to do more, be more active, more social and even more happy!

YONDER.Swim 

If you follow Yonder Living on Instagram or Twitter you may have noticed a bit of a recurring obsession of ours... So you can imagine how thrilled we were this week to have our Hammam Towels and Cactus Verde Bath Salts featured in the latest edition of the South East London Journal – The Swimming Pool edition. In light of this, as well as the long awaited arrival of summer, we thought would take this as an opportunity to dedicate a whole post to our life-long love of going swimming!

Let’s be honest there is probably no better place to be, in our opinion anyway, that aimlessly floating in ocean somewhere far away. And of course who could ever deny the feeling of pure bliss that comes from taking a cool dip on a hot day. But while these are certainly the kind of moments we find ourselves day dreaming about in the Yonder office come 3pm, it is the daily evening swim, in our local indoor pool, that has become our most treasured swim of all. 

In all honesty, by the time it gets to five o’clock there is often the temptation to head straight home and simply crash after a long day in office. But not once has anyone ever regretted a swim! So we go, no matter what. As soon as you are submerged in water and you start to feel the stresses of the day drift away with every length there really is nowhere else we would rather be. Even the unmistakable chemical smell of chlorine seems to act as an instant and nostalgic pick me up. 

With this post-work swim becoming a daily ritual, it is not much of a surprise that our Mediterranean Hammam Towel has become somewhat of a key item in our lives. Quite honestly how anyone lives without one is beyond us, especially if you are fond of trips to the pool, gym or spa! Super lightweight to pack and carry around, brilliantly absorbent and unbelievably quick drying, not to mention it really does adding a much needed touch of style to our somewhat boring, but practicable, black swimming costume.

As we welcome in the start of June, we think it is finally about time we had an injection of colour in our lives, and this month we simply can't get enough of bright coral shades - from zingy grapefruit to all out neon. After all it will officially be 'Summer' in London come the 21st, so let's celebrate the changing season in style! June is picnics in the park, longer, sunnier evenings. It is a time for cocktails and punch with friends, and planning our summer getaways. Morning swims and fresh gentle breezes. June is a time to refresh, often the change of season calls for a change of scenery, an opportunity to redecorate your home and wardrobe.
